Thank you for keeping us in touch with what is happening, despite you having so little time. I sincerely hope the news on Poppy will be better tomorrow – I’m sorry you are faced with all this whilst abroad. I pray she will respond to the danazol quickly, but as your vet said, is does take a while to work fully. My thoughts are with you, Suba.

How are you & Poppy doing?

Peptacid? Do you mean Pepcid AC? If so, it is a tummy protector. It’s not an anti-coagulant.

Sounds like your vet might be giving her another type of immuno-suppressant – they take a while to kick in as you mentioned – just guessing for now – let us know when you find out what it is!

I’m really sorry you are away from home – it’s horrible not being able to be beside them – you must be frantic with worry. You know you can count on us for help any time.

There is a possibility that this could be a tick disease – some diseases cause strange looking reflective eyes – Worzel had this with ehrlichiosis – almost like rabbits in headlights even when the light wasn’t strong – have you had a Snap4DX test done? Tick panels are always worth doing & the result is instant with the Snap4. As you know tick disease cause anaemia & sometimes AIHA too.

Hi everyone – to all our dear friends

Linda has asked me to give you an update on Sadie who was taken to the emergency animal hospital last night. She has had to have a transfusion because her PCV kept dropping & she is tolerating it well. She is producing reticulocytes (baby red cells) but they are being destroyed, so we are all crossing fingers etc for the drugs to start kicking in, so that she stops killing them off & her PCV will start to rise. Sadie is on anti-clotting medications, tummy protector, prednisone & I believe they will be re-starting the cyclosporine. We have also discussed the possibility of dexamethasone.

Please could you all join me in sending Linda & Sadie loads of love & supporting hugs. Linda does so much to help other people – she has a heart of gold – now it’s our turn to help her through this. Sadie is a real fighter & we are all willing her to get better quickly.

These things are sent to try us – don’t worry – it’s probably just conjunctivitis or “pink eye” – easily treated with some drops. I’m really please to hear his PCV is holding well & he he’s a happy boy. I’m sure the vet will sort this problem out for you. Just be careful if they give you pills – some antibiotics (in tablet form) are not suitable for AIHA dogs – the three groups to avoid are the sulfa drugs, penicillins & cephalosporins. Hope all will be well at the vets. Keep us posted!
