Hello Hope. I was under the impression that Atopica IS cyclosporine…..no? I get Sadie’s Atopica at Costco, 25.00 – 27.00 depending – it changes for some reason. It was 75.00 at the vet! Now her vet calls the script in to Costco (for everything else too).
Sadie gets UTI’s continually. As much as I hate it, she is on Doxycycline 2Xday, 100mg’s (Costco). If she comes off, wam, a UTI. My sweet girl….
Dr. Dodds is incredible. Without her and the dear friends from this forum, Sadie would not have made it. Please contact her.
Hugs, Linda and Sadie
Hello Hope. I am so sorry you are going through this with Lita.
Where are you in FL? I am in Tampa. Sadie too, relapsed in 2015, bad, same three nights in emergency (Blue Pearl) and two transfusions. She actually just relapsed again (she’s a rare one) but we caught it, although bounce back, this had been a tough one (this is actually her 6th relapse). She’s hanging in. 😊
Sadie is on HeartGuard for heart worms every 45 days (per Dr. Dodds) and nothing for flea and tick. With her history, I did n’t want tochance it. But, I do use Diatomaceous Earth religiously, everywhere, inside the house and outside.
Best to you both. Sending huge hugs,
Linda and Sadie
Sheena – that is very good news! I really hope to hear about them soon – and yes, greyhounds are wonderful and so neglected….
A break???? A good idea???? I can’t imagine how you have kept going without canine pals about the house. I am sure I would have been totally in a mess by now!
I Nam is cheeky! At the weekend, she played the “you can’t catch me” game at the end of a walk. I tried pretending I was driving off and leaving her, but it didn’t work. After about 20 such attempts she was still running rings around me (and the car). I finally cheated: I got the other two back out of the car and pretended we were going out again…. then I could get her!
I am so glad you joined Soi Dogs. We were SOOO impressed by the place when we went there – cleanest kennels I have ever seen! And the support network is amazing. Worth a visit if you are ever anywhere near Thailand!
Do keep me posted about your new arrivals when you get them
Love

PS The more I read about this horrible disease, IMHA, the more I wonder if that was also what killed Shona…… she had been revaccinated three weeks before getting encephalitis. I can’t help but wonder if it was that and not my theory that she had got into something. Needless to say I am very cautious about overvaccinating now…. after her and Honey….
Ohhh! I am so sorry to hear about Bingo; you must miss him. But happy to hear about Saba! Welcome, Saba!
Yes, I Nam is a character; they all get on fine….. I am uploading a pic of Bella and I Nam. This was just after Bella came home from the hospital. I like to think I Nam is making sure she is OK
love,
Lynda
Lovely Sheena
The Twilight home looks amazing. How wonderful to see people who are so utterly dedicated to their cause. I’m sure it was a deeply moving experience. So lovely of you to take all Worzel and Ollie’s things, where they will no doubt be put to excellent use and help plenty of pups in need. That was such a thoughtful thing to do, and takes courage too.
There is nothing much that can be said which will ease the pain you and Phil are suffering right now. They are such a part of our family, and our lives, that everything feels different when they have gone. Take time, and be kind to yourselves. You have been such a tower of strength, both for Worzel and Ollie, and for countless people here too. I never shall forget the support you gave me with Molly, and am eternally grateful. Mable is also grateful to you for introducing her to prawns.
Doubtless, Worzel and Ollie are together somewhere, running around like loons and reunited in each other’s company. I hope you and Phil are able to find some comfort in knowing what wonderful lives you gave them, and so many more animals. You are remarkable people.
Buckets of love from us. Thinking of you so much.

Oh Sheena
Absolutely gutted to log on here and to see this sad news. I’m so sorry to hear about Worzel, and I can only imagine how heartbroken you and Phil must be feeling. You did the most amazing job getting Worzel through AIHA and your dedication to him, and Ollie, has been incredible. They are doubtless together and having all sorts of fun.
So very sorry.
Loads of love from us

Hi Carrie. Just wanted to pipe in about the masses on Daisy. I saw the pics you sent. Sadie had them too, with this lady relapse. She had had two transfusions and left Blue Pearl on 75MG’s of cyclosporine and 45MG’s of prednisone. The ‘sores’ cane up within two weeks if her being home. Her PCV had been 10 when she went in and was finally riding, thank goodness.
But the ‘masses’ or sires you describe and from what they look like in the pic you sent us, look so much like Sadie’s. Hers were ooozing and scabby and nasty. I started putting coconut oil on them, with a q-tip, twice a day. As her PCV rose (please listen about the reducing, wait until 34-38 to start, I know the side-effects are horrible, as with these ‘masses’, just being one of them) and we reduced the immune suppressants, the sores just went away. Here’s hoping for Daisy too.
FYI, Sadie is a cocker spaniel and weighs about 25 pounds.
Love and supportive hugs,
Linda and Sadie
