Hi Tara
Lots of luck to you both on Monday – you know I’ll be thinking about you & Diablo. If BUN & creatinine were OK last time, that’s great news. I’ve just been writing the glossary term for “Urinalysis” & I’m sure looking at the sediment might help. It does sound like prostate, stones or infection possibly. Even the boys have things to contend with when they get older! It’s lovely to be back in touch
Love Sheena, Worzel (greyhound PCV 67 last week!) & Ollie too
Hi Tara
It’s lovely to be back in touch, but I’m really, really sorry to hear about your younger Schnauzer baby passing – so sad. Please accept my condolences, Tara. Rotten news.
Please don’t worry too much about the small PCV/RBC changes – I agree with Brigitte & Vally – get another one done in 2 weeks to stop yourself worrying too much (as we do!). Platelets are not in danger zone, but I can understand why you’re worried. Bacteria in the urine seen? Must be something going on then – I agree totally about getting a culture done. The raised neutrophils could be because of bacterial infection, but the pred causes this too, although Diablo’s dose is not very high now. Have a quick look in the AIHA terms at prednisone – there is a lot of information about side effects there. Might be an idea to get a creatinine & BUN included in the next blood test too, also urine concentration. Again, there is information in the AIHA terms about these tests . We would LOVE to hear what you think about the information in the AIHA terms (it is not yet complete unfortunately) as we have spent quite a lot of time writing it and would like to know if you find it useful or have any ideas.
As you can see, Bingo keeps us entertained still & we are really enjoying being back in touch with each other – welcome back & so glad you’re here too. Lots of cuddles to Diablo – how is he in himself?
Sheena & Worzel
Hi Erica.
Ooooooohhhhh I’m so happy to hear the good news – no spherocytes is great (have they changed their mind about a splenectomy now?), HCT 43 is fantastic. There is always something to worry about, I know – they like to keep us on our toes! It sounds like she’s doing brilliantly – clever girl. Good luck with the next check up keep us posted – cuddles to Tilly from us all.
Hi Erica
41 is not a bad PCV, but I understand why you are worrying. Checking for spherocytes is a good idea.
Worzel’s PCV varies between 55 & 65 (greyhounds are higher), & I used to get really upset if it dropped even 5 points, but as Vally says, it went back up again, then down again. Glad they are checking the sample properly & crossing everything that the anemia has NOT reappeared. Let us know when you can – thinking of you as always & big cuddles to Tilly

My dear friend – you have me crying too over Dunes. You are just the kindest person & I’m so very happy Nauset is under your loving care, getting such wonderful treatment. You know how much passion I have for rescue dogs & their plight. No dog can ever be replaced, Joe – we love them for their individual personalities – Dunes will always be that special girl who battled more than any prize fighter.
I personally hate Facebook & the like, full of loads of mis-information, irrelevant waffle and no real guidance. I’m sure many will disagree – Facebook probably has it’s place, but not in my world at the moment. My husband calls it SadBook!!!! I hope people will find us here when they need our help, so maybe it will have a use in that respect. I know someone is going to be our Facebook “front of house”. The more people we can tell about this site, the more GOOD information we can get across. Importantly we need to be seen on search engines such as Google, Internet explorer, Yahoo etc as Patrice has said. This WILL happen.
I am glad we can all communicate again properly. We need each other.
Love as always from Sheena, Worzel & Ollie
