Why do people bother to have dogs & behave like that? Poor dogs. Here, there are people who chain their dogs up all the time & others that let them wander around, including in the road. It’s maddening & irresponsible. Thankfully most people do take good care of their pets though. Fleas are a real nuisance – glad you’ve solved the mystery though – it must be flea bites – and the boy will soon be rid of them & get his appetite back!!!
Dear Joe,
just as with AIHA I will advice you to take it one day at a time. For Nauset’s illness and for your state of mind, one day at a time.
A good friend sent me this poem when Kahlu died:
“A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam.
And for a brief moment its glory and beauty
belong to our world.
But then it flies on again,
and though we wish it could have stayed,
we feel so lucky to have seen it.”
Be kind to yourself, Love Brigitte
Hi Linda
Don’t forget these AIHA drugs are catabolic – they “eat” muscle, ligaments & tendons which become weak (hence the pot belly, spindly legs etc) & this doesn’t do joints any good at all because all the things that should support them have become atrophied. Brigitte is spot on – does Sadie really have arthritis at such a young age? I suspect it is the drugs making all the surrounding tissues weak & feeble. Just wondering whether you should consider anabolic steroids as they build up muscle etc., but they do have side effects (have a look in the AIHA terms for information). Dr Jean Dodds recommends them as part of the treatment when necessary as they counteract the catabolic effects of the prednisone to some extent. I know Joe’s Dunes had some injections.
You know I am a “Don’t Upset the Applecart” girl – I would personally be very careful about adding anything that is not part of the usual AIHA treatment protocol. I admit I am a worry guts, but this disease has turned me into one. I would certainly run anything like “Adequan” by Dr Dodds or your specialist before trying it, but you know what a cautious so-and-so I am!
Lots of love to you & Sadie Baby
