Nauset is feeling much better. Unfortunately we have discovered she is more destructive than Dunes.
She is really a Lab. We went out for 1 1/2 hours for a burger. We decided to let her out of the cage for the first time.
Upon coming home -oh boy- Nauset got into a corner and picked of a minature collector’s White House. She carried it from the family room through the breakfast are and kitchen into the formal dining room and proceeded to chew it. In the dining room she destroyed a wicker basket and wooden apples inside. She ate an apple candle.
Then in the family room Nauset tore apart a wooden fence like basket with tole painted lighthouses and New England Seashore. Papers were on the floor-just a real mess.
She is certainly a Lab and feeling better. Wow!

Hi, Dunes was on 5 mg. Of prednisone daily and 50 mg. Atopica for years. Short term O think it is fine nut the Atopica.was.what hurt her bone marrow. However Dunes lasted much longer even though she was never in complete remission. Hope this helps. Are you seeing improvement?

Dear Tara
Good to hear that Diablo is no worse, although this must be a terribly worrying time for you. I completely understand you wanting a reason for this. I think that is in our nature, as it is otherwise so difficult to contemplate why these things just seem to appear out of nowhere.
Continuing to send positive vibes and paws crossed from us both. Hoping for good news very soon.

Dear Rey
I just wanted to add my sincere condolences for the loss of Scout. It is a very difficult time and it is quite natural to ask yourself all the “what ifs?” and look for things to blame, including yourself. I lost my cat to IMHA in December, and the number of things which I have blamed continue to stack up. Was it that dragonfly she caught? Was it a reaction to a medication? The truth is, I will never know what fired it off. The lack of any answers can be difficult to bear, especially at this time when it is so raw for you. I don’t use plug ins but I am somewhat addicted to a particular US brand of scented candle. I had seen someone question the safety of these around animals a long time ago, but I have never seen anything other than anecdotes which are suggestive of any type of risk to animals.
As Vally so rightly said, it takes a very special person to adopt an older animal, and I am sure that Scout had the most wonderful life with you.
With very best wishes,
Mary x
