Ah that is brilliant news! Thanks for updating us Patrice, and way to go Sadie! How strange about the pollen. Isn’t it incredible what affects these critters? In some respects they are so robust, and in others, so sensitive. Last week we had a cloud of Sahara dust and pollution here in the UK. It was quite strange, but Mable was undeterred from her usual antics.
Well done Sadie. So pleased to hear about the CBC and enjoy the visitors :)

Well I called in at the vet last week and had a chat with the last vet who saw Mable. He felt that she does need to be treated prophylactically, as she is an outdoor cat who has suffered with fleas in the past. So, he recommended a new tablet called Comfortis (I believe this has been available for dogs for some time). We decided to give it a go, although it took me a week to pluck up the courage to give it to her. Imagine my delight when, instead of having to chase her through the house with a spot-on, she ate the tablet happily. Unfortunately she vomited all over her bed a few hours later :( Apparently this is a common side effect. She seems ok today but I don’t think we’ll be using the Comfortis again. Back to the chasing by the looks of it. Ho hum.

Dear Tara
I have been thinking of you & Diablo constantly.
I thought Sprockett had gone blind at the begining & it WAS the nystagmus – I’m so glad to hear Diablo is no worse. Again, it’s a waiting game & this is one of the miraculous recovery scenarios according to everything I’ve read & from friends & my own experiences. But recovery is not overnight. Patience, treat the treatable & “Wait & See” are the vets quotes. I am wishing him better – sometimes there is nothing to blame, just as with AIHA, except being an older dog.
Loads of love to you from Sheena & the boyz.
Rey,
I am so very sorry about your best friend. I certainly inow how you are feeling. I keep thinking of what I couod have done better. I could have been smarter and wiser. But I am just me now without my Dunes. I miss her everyday as you will. I try to go on and not think on what I could do better. It is too late for that for me. I am just grateful I had her.

Hi Tara
I totally agree with Patrice – it STILL sounds peripheral & dogs DO get better in time, even though it looks bad at the beginning. Your vet is right to be cautious with the medications because of AIHA.
I was lucky to have a very experienced vet (& owner of several border collies who are prone to this disease) when this happened to Sprockett & I think it would be good to get a specialist opinion on this as soon as you can. Many dogs do not need any treatment at all & they recover just fine, but bearing in mind this is the second episode, I think you would feel happier that your are getting the right treatment for him, with some specialist help & advice.
Let us know how he’s doing – hoping there is some improvement today, although it’s early days yet.
Love Sheena & the boyz
