OK, Brigitte…. Honey and I understand the idea of marathon…… I did one last year (hiking, not running!) to raise money for Alzheimer’s research (another horrible disease, which my Mum died of). All through my training hikes, Honey came too, thinking nothing of walking 17 miles (in her case, double that, because of running after squirrels…..). She couldn’t do half a mile right now. We will keep going – thanks for the support
Hi Lynda. Just checking in. Did you send Honey’s labs? Just trying to figure the last two months, and the timeline of all that is being done for her by your vets and maybe we can get to the bottom of why Honey is not responding better yet.
I keep looking at her picture. She is absolutely beautiful. I have an extra fond place in my heart for greyhounds too, as my dear friends down the street have five, at this moment. They often watch my dog (cocker spaniel) while away. Sadie thinks she’s a greyhound. ;)
My friends, belong to one of the greyhound rescues here in Tampa, FL. Of course, in a perfect world, there would be NO more greyhound racing. But I have come to the realization from my friends, that if it is done too fast, we’ll have so many greyhounds without homes at one time, and they will most assuredly end up being put down, simply for lack of being able to find homes fast enough. The good news is that there are few tracks left and the ones that are in existence are monitored much better due to the outcry from animal advocates and dog lovers. Their kennel for the rescue is actually located right at the track, so they work closely with the owners of the retired and/or injured dogs. My friends tend to take the dogs that can not or will not be adopted; one has three legs, another has one kidney. All of them, the most precious dogs ever. They are a strong breed, so you hang in there with your beautiful Honey and she will prove it.
I hope you’ve checked Dr. Dodds’ website, Hemopet. It’s amazing, the work she does – it’s definitely for the love of these beautiful dogs. Dr. Dodds will be of great help with Honey.
Sending our love across the pond,
Linda and Sadie
Hi Lynda
Oh, she really is Honey by name & a Honey by looks! Worzel & Ollie says they are in LOVE, but send apologies to Linda’s Sadie for being such two-timers. Seriously, she’s beautiful. Hoping she’s doing OK – let us know how things are going. I love their gentle sweet natures – look after that girl.
Love from Honey’s admirers & me
Sheena

Thanks to all Honey’s admirers!! Join the club!! She and Dora, the other greyhound (and the lurcher who recently passed, Meg) are all rescue dogs. There is a wonderful kennel that deals with Greyhound Rescue in the north of England – the woman who runs it rescued a greyhound who had to have a leg amputated (thanks to a **** of a previous owner….) – she now keeps him herself in case rehoming meant he had a less than wonderful home.
Will pick up Honey’s lab results tomorrow when I collect some more prednisolone for her, and then I will email Jean Dodds.
Lynda,
please keep us posted how Honey is doing! I know you will not regret making the effort to write to Dr. Dodds. have you visited her website? (hemopet) You will see many pictures of lovely greyhounds that were rescued and their job is now rescuing other dogs:) before they will be placed in selected homes.
Best wishes,
Brigitte
Hi Lynda
Lovely to see a photo of your beautiful Honey, enjoying a spot of pond dipping! You are wonderful to give rescue dogs their forever home, and they are lucky to have found you. I am very sorry to hear about your Meg. It is heartbreaking indeed when you know they have not been cared for previously, but what a difference people like you make :) A marathon? I am impressed! And yes, a superb and very important cause.
Do let us know how Honey gets on. Thinking of you and Honey and sending lots of well wishes

Lynda – beautiful girl, your Honey. Love the pics. All you’re saying sounds good; labs , writing Dr. Dodds.
Hang in here with us. Thinking of you both.
Love and hugs, Linda and Sadie
After a long day battling cyberspace….. tried all day to get hold of Jean Dodds’ lab, but the website was down. FINALLY succeeded (it took a phone call to California as well!) – so now we are on the case. Just waiting to see what she says. Will keep you all posted. Honey goes for another blood test tomorrow….. but at the moment, she is still quite perky after the last transfusion. Keeping fingers crossed….
