Hi Debra. Brigitte – I know – Sadie looks so much like your Kahlu. I was wondering when you were going to see Sadie’s picture. Isn’t she darling?!
Debra – how is Sadie doing? You have been so great with her and working so hard to get her well. I know this has all been a rough time. Sadie is very lucky to have you in her court and loving her so much. Keep us posted, okay?
Love and hugs, Linda and Sadie
Hi Jen. Have been away a few days and just reading about Maggie. Goodness. I hate that you and Maggie are dealing with all this. It does sound like an ear infection. Sadie has had some of those symptoms with an ear infection. The tilting the head, rapid eye movement. You’ve gotten the best advise here. I bet, with the antibiotic, she’ll start feeling better soon.
Please keep us posted and if you need me, e-mail or call.
Much, much love and huge hugs, Linda
Dearest Jeanie – I too am so very sorry. I have been away over the weekend and just found out today about your dear Pandi. I know you are feeling very empty right now. It’s the letting go that is so difficult, but it is the most noble of decisions to have let her go peacefully.
This is the most cruel of diseases because it just sneaks up and you are trying frantically to do all the right things, make all the right decisions AND find the best care. You found the best care for Pandi and you did everything and more than anyone else would have done – because you loved her so much.
I love Pandi’s picture. She was a beautiful girl, such a precious face. I know you loved her dearly and of course, she knew it too. She was a very lucky girl to have known you and your unquestionable allegiance.
As others have suggested, when you are able, please visit The Bridge. And in time, perhaps writing your story of your precious Pandi would help not only you, but others too.
I am sending you my most heartfelt condolences and much love,
Linda
Jeanie – I am so, so sorry to hear about Pandi. I have been thinking about you and hoping she would get better. But, as the others have said, it is such a horrible, evil disease. Please accept my deepest condolences.
It is always, always a tough decision to let go, and I know all too well the pain you are going through. But you did take the right decision, and it was a decision made in love. Please let us know how you are getting on. You will be feeling terrible, I know, but we are all here to support you.
And hold on to your memories; they are precious. I know that Pandi knew how much she was loved
with love
Lynda
Dear Jeanie,
I am so very sorry and you have my sincere sympathy on the loss of your Pandi. Of course I don’t know how exactly you feel right now, but I have a pretty good idea. Pandi must leave a huge hole in your family and your heart is broken. Those last moments are edged into your memory and when you think of Pandi the tears come. I am sure you have many absolutely wonderful memories of that cute girl and I know that in time those memories will be stronger than the pain and sorrow this disease brought you. Nobody can take away those memories and there will be a time when you can smile again when you think of Pandi.
I think it is very important to talk to people that understand how sad the loss of Pandi is for you. I hope you have friends and family that you can talk to. If you don’t, we always have an ear here and we truly know how it feels.
Please take care and let us know how you are. When I thought of you and Pandi this poem came to mind:
A butterfly lights beside us, like a sunbeam…
and for a brief moment it’s glory
and beauty belong to our world…
but then it flies on again, and although
we wish it could have stayed,
we are so thankful to have seen it at all.
Sending love, sympathy and best wishes,
Brigitte
Oh my dear Jeanie,
You have made the bravest decision of all & Mary is right – sometimes you must make the choice to stop if you think there is no hope or even the remotest possibility of suffering. In the circumstances, we would all do the same because we love our pets so much. I can’t even begin to tell you how sorry I am that Pandi lost the fight against this very serious & evil disease. Too many still lose that fight & I am crying now for you & Pandi as I write this. You are so courageous to let us know. Don’t leave us, please – if you feel like writing some more, anytime, please do.
Mary suggested looking at The Bridge page – it has brought comfort to many & was written by our wonderful Brigitte, who also lost her beloved dog to IMHA. When things are less raw, I hope you will find some solace there.
Sending you my love & deepest sympathy, dear Jeanie
