- Steve says Hi!!
Hello all!!
I know I haven’t posted in ages … Med school has kept me more than a little busy and frantic! However I’m happy to report that today Stinky Steve is doing great! He’s been off meds for 9 months besides maintenance Thyroxine, and his last PCV in May was 51%. We took a trip to the beach this summer and have been back to walks and the dog park. He’s also got a new cat brother who he of course is reluctantly become fond of. I hope you are all wonderful and well! You truly helped us through this, and Steve (nor my sanity) would be here without all of you!
xoxo
Hope, Stinky Steve and Jeffy

Hey all!!
I would love to write up Steve’ story one day — I hid his binder away on the top shelf of my bookshelf because looking at it is awful, but I’ll get it together and submit something to Patrice!
Medicine is great — I love second year because we get to go into the hospitals and start doing rounds. Even if its very short, it is something to look forward to and it’s like a light at the end of the tunnel. Good reminder of what all of the hard work is for so I love it! I have to say though… I’ve learned and learned and learned about hemolytic anemia so much in the last 3 semesters and every time I do, it’s awful. I’ve learned in detail how heparins work, what mycophenolate does as a immunosuppressant, what a Coombs test is and more and every time its just cringing and awful, BUT (very small glimmer of positive) having Steve go through IMHA really helped me I guess get behind all of this. And I have a more vested interest in it for sure.
I hope all of you and your fur babies are doing well and healthy and wonderful!
