- Steve says Hi!!
Hi! Oh, I certainly LOVE that pink tongue. Steve looks awesome and love the photos! You did a remarkable job getter his health back – you’re going to make an equally remarkable doctor too!
As you know, humans get AIHA too, so this background will help you diagnose what others may not catch. You talking about your second year reminds me of my former husband’s med school days. Wow – that was a LONG time ago. It’s gruling, but so worth the effort. You have a beautiful heart Hope, and that is so important with bed side manner – I have always felt a large part of healing is listening to the patient. You “listened” to Steve (body language, darn, I wish they could talk!!) and just look at him! Way to go!!!
No worry, write us every 6 months or so and let us know how you ALL are doing. You are like family here – you know that. Great to read all this – made my day!
Much love, Linda and Sadie
Hey there Linda and Ms. Sadie!
I missed y’all! I hope y’all are well — thank you for your kind words. I do believe that being an IMHA mom has and will help me in my career.. crazy huh?
When I get a chance one day I’m going to write Steve’s story for the website, though I must admit I get a little PTSD when I pull out that binder and look thru it. I just realized the other day I forgot one of the medication names and I was shocked yet a little thrilled at the same time.
All of our love,
Hope and the boys
Hi Hope. I know you are really busy with med schoool, understatement. But….when you have time, having a positive story such as Steve’s on the forum stories would be such a benifit and inspiration for any newcomer to read. And Steve IS a great success story. :) When you have time, looking forward to reading about it all.
Much love, Linda and Sadie
Hello everyone!
Just dropping in to say hi!!! I hope everyone and their beautiful fur babies are doing well! I’m so sorry I don’t get to drop in more — I’m now working on medical school, house renovations, wedding, broken bones, lolol, the list goes on!
we are learning extensively about Hematology right now in Clinical Pathology — I’m up to my ears in IMHA, ITP and everything and anything I could ever want to know about these things. It’s awful and I hate it, BUTTTT… (very very small “perk” to Steve getting sick) I have a much more vested interest in all of it. And I kind of know what they are talking about so it’s not as steep of a learning curve for me than other things but it still brings back terrible memories. When I log on here and see all the pups still fighting this terrible disease, I am constantly reminded how lucky I am, but it’s a blessing I wish none of us ever had to know.
On a non-IMHA note, Steve’s terrible awful brother Jeffrey ate a chicken drummette (really small chicken leg) bone the other night… whole, off my plate. He lunged and before we could even do anything he swallowed it. So of course I was in panic mode. I gave him a lot of bread to hopefully pad it going down, but was in **ALERT** mode for 2 days until the vet re-opened. We were checking poop, checking bottoms, checking everything.. I take him to the vet and $500 later, they can’t find the bone. No idea where it went! It’s a still unsolved mystery! My theory is that he pooped it out and Matt didn’t check hard enough and missed it. Lol! I broke my ankle so I can’t get down the back steps to check it.. so much for sending a man in to do a mom’s job! These dogs keep me busy.. and poor!
I will get to that write up one day, I promise!
I submitted a video of Steve — please let me know if it’s too big or if I can do anything to get it posted. He looks GLORIOUS! lol! But I might be a little biased. Y’all can also see his selective listening in action… side bar: I taught him how to roll over when he was a puppy and he knows that elicits the most treats so any command results in a roll over :D
All my love to everyone!
– Hope, Steve, Jeffrey and Leonard the cat
Hello Hope! How wonderful to hear from you and Steve!!! what a great story, I know the time will come when you are not quite as busy, and you will write it all down for the “our stories” page. As soon as you get broken bones, wedding, moving, medical school and other unimportant things out of the way, you will be a great asset to this forum! :) I am so incredibly happy for you that you can look forward and enjoy Steve’s good health.
Love Brigitte
Hi Hope, or I should say High Hope!
It makes my day hearing from you always. That naughty Jeffrey is a stinker for sure – where do these things disappear to? I am so glad he’s OK though. And Steve’s story will be told one day! For now, it’s good to know he’s in remission – long may that continue – forever would be nice!
Because of our experiences, I decided to do a haematology intense back up course – not easy as it was not my “specialist subject”. I got very boggy with the 47 million types of leukemias (small exaggeration) & decided to concentrate on our dog’s problems instead – much “easier” for me, but you have to have a much broader knowledge. You are a superstar for sure!!! I am certain you will be a real expert on this through your experiences.
Please take good care, keep in touch when you can & keep making my day happier!
Love, hugs & good luck with the medic exams, not that you’ll need it. You have a good heart & will make a fantastic doctor.

Hope, it’s fabulous to hear from you. I’m thrilled to hear Steve is doing so great and that the beast Jeffrey is fine.
Whenever you have time (ha ha), drop by. It was really great to hear from you.

PS What in the world did you break your ankle for? Can’t you find another patient to practice on???
Hi Hope
It’s so lovely to hear from you (and Steve!), and I’m so pleased things are going so well. It certainly sounds as though life is keeping you busy, but in a good way (apart from the broken ankle of course – ouch!)
Wonderful to hear that Steve is doing so well, and I also look forward to his story appearing on the site. I hope he is getting on better with his cat brother now – how lovely!
Take good care of yourself, and thank you for stopping by. I hope we will get to see the glorious video of Steve!
Much love,
