Joe, I don’t know how much physical exercise Nauset is allowed to have, here is a webpage with some great dog tricks that might entertain the two of you:
http://www.youtube.com/user/kikopup
You might have to adapt it to Nauset’s exercise level, but I think it could be a special thing you CAN do and make you both happy and bond even more:) there are expert tricks there and some really easy ones like the no mugging game. It will certainly occupy both your minds.
Good luck,
Brigitte
Oh Joe and Nauset – what a process. A test of endurance for you both – like you need that, BUT you ARE doing it. Both of you. And doing it well. Nauset is such a fortunate little doggie to have your love and attention. Hang in there – continue this great fight. As Brigitte says – Dunes is watching over you both – I have to believe that is true too.
Our love and healing wishes , Linda and Sadie
Hi friends,
Nauset had the second treatment on February 6 to kill the baby heartworms. She still has them. She is being put on Doxy and will continue with monthly treatment preventative. The heartguard is supposed to kill the baby heart worms. We will see. She is supposed to be completely still. She is getting more frisky.
Nauset sits beside my chair and paws my arm and now I have scratches that have bled. She wants me to constantly pet her. When she gets to active, I cage her.
She sleeps on my side of the bed every night and is a sweet and gentle dog.
I think of all of you often.
Joe
Hi Joe
Nice to hear she’s feeling frisky, even though she’s not allowed to be! Sending you all the good luck in the world for this new treatment – fight those horrible worms off, Nauset. She sounds like the most adorable little girl & deserves a bit of fuss from her Dad for being such a sweetheart. Give her a cuddle from me & the boys too.

Way to go Nauset!!! And Joe – you are so awesome to care so much. I know it’s hard for you, especially considering what you’ve been through with Dunes. But I think too, as others have said, that Dunes is looking over you both now and making your heart open and strong for Nauset now.
I love that Nauset sleeps with you. Sadie sleeps with us too. She curls up right next to my husband and puts her little, sweet head on his pillow. This is REALLY funny, because bringing her home was much to his chagrin!! When I brought her home, we had just sent our 7th child off to college – and I come home with a puppy! Not only a puppy, but a high maintenance cocker spaniel and now the AIHA. He does love her; he just doesn’t feed her, give her meds, bath her, clip her, take her to the vet – geeze. Other than taking her outside (which he does often) and taking her for the occasional walk, it’s pretty much me. But still, she has managed to get into his heart. So see – there are not many kind hearts that do so much – as YOU. Nauset is one lucky gal. :)
Love and hugs to you both, Linda & Sadie
Hi Joe
How is Nauset getting along? And how are you doing? I hope she is still giving you lots of cuddles and curling up next to you on the bed. It’s just the nicest thing. Mable comes up on the bed but once the light goes out, she takes herself off to bed somewhere else. Molly used to curl up on my pillow. It was lovely.
Linda – I love your story about Sadie sleeping on your husband’s pillow! Isn’t it funny how they just seem to know how to melt people’s hearts? 7 children though – wow!
Joe, I do hope things are going well and that Nauset is making good progress.
Our best wishes to you both,
Mary and Mable x
