- Lumps on Neck???
Hi Tara. Thanks Patrice and Vally – great advice and Patrice, yes, great article. I just let the vet check Sadie over or I’d be a total wreck! Been there Tara – don’t panic. Although, I know it’s really, really hard not to.
Let us know what the vet says, but I’ll wager a monetary bet in the means of a donation to Patrice, that they are both on target!!
Love and hugs, Linda & Sadie
Hi Tara
Definitely have a look at the links Patrice posted. My first thought was lymph nodes when I read your post. I have to admit that I don’t know anything about canine lymph nodes, but I had a scare myself with one a few years ago and learnt a thing or two about them then. Lymph nodes will often swell up with an infection, and this can be an insignificant local infection. Recently I had one up in the back of my head and the doctor thought this was due to a tiny scratch on my scalp. Once they are enlarged, they can stay enlarged for some time, even if the infection itself has gone. My “scary” one is still enlarged from 2009 and will probably never go back to its normal size. They are very sensitive and the more you poke and prod them, the more they will swell. As hard as it is, try to leave them alone until the vet has checked them over.
As Vally also said, they may just be fatty lumps which are pretty common.
Certainly ask your vet to check them over, but fingers crossed it is nothing to worry about. Will be thinking of you and hoping for good news.

Just returned from the vet. They took a needle aspirate to do a cystology. She feels it could be cancer :( Will let you know when I get the results. Thank you for all the info. Patrice and thank you everyone for your kind words and well wishes.
Hello……I am heart broken….Diablo has lymphoma. They want to up the prednisone from 2.5mg per day to 17.5 mg per day in hopes of extending his life and relieving the eventual discomfort and size of the swollen nodes. I am in shock. Right now he is the best he has been on a long time….you would never know anything is wrong :(
