- Lumps on Neck???
Hello, I discovered a small lump on the left side of diablo’s neck this week and now I think I feel two…..they are small and feel moveable so I thought fatty deposit…he has a few of those on this body already and has for a long time….I am just worried that at first it was one and now seems to be two……are there lymph nodes there? He is the most normal he has been in ages….lots of energy, eating well and very loveable….they don’t seem to be bothering him but are very much bothering me….can’t get into my vet until monday. I am not sure what if anything they will be able to do…..he is still on 25 mg of cyclosporine every other day, 2.5 mg of pred every a.m. and thyroid meds 2x per day. Any input would be great – thanks!!!!!!
He is also on antibiotic for ecoli kidney/bladder infection and has been for close to 3 to 4 weeks now.Clavomox.
Oh no, I should not have googled this….seems like number one cause is cancer…..can’t be infection because he is on antibiotics
Tara, you’re like me. I google everything and cancer and tumors are the first result every time.
You’re probably right in that they are most likely fatty lumps. Bingo has heaps all over him. A huge one under his cheek. He also has heaps of warts too. His vet said some time back that the cyclosporine could be the cause.
I think with the immune system being kept so shut down, things which would normally turn up and disappear are much slower now. It is most likely absolutely nothing, but when you next go, show it to the vet.

Thanks Vally. I hope you might be right but my biggest concern is it seems to have multiplied quickly from 1 to 2. They are in the exact place that it shows the lymphnodes to be in diagrams online. Would reducing cyclosporine to every other day cause this…should I increase it back? Monday can’t come soon enough
Tara,
Please don’t immediately jump to conclusions. Lymph nodes can react to infection and allergies and can be quite prominent in a dog’s neck, but also can be felt in the back of the legs. If you find a number of locations where these nodes are a bit swollen it is most likely an allergy.

Once you find where these are located, you will not forget how to find them again.
