Danielle, I’m so very sorry to read this.
This disease, sometimes, can just never be beaten. It affects the body in so many ways.
Take time to grieve. These dogs are the special ones.
When you’re ready, and maybe not immediately, please go to “The Bridge” page. I know it will help you.

Savannah was lucky to have had someone who loved her so much.
My deepest condolences,

Hi Pat. Would the drug be Denamarin? That is great great stuff for high liver enzymes. Should be given an hour away from other food and meds. Although it can be given with a little bit of food if necessary.
Now as to your question. I used to push this down Bingo’s throat, but he was such a good pill taker, I was lucky.
How have you been trying to give it to your feisty girl? The shove method? Are you in the US? I believe the chewable version is available. Does your girl tend to go for chewables?

Amy, Atopica should NOT be given with food or meds. In fact ideally 2 hours away from food and other meds. Some dogs don’t tolerate it though and can have it with a small amount of food, but still it should be given away from the other drugs.
I have no doubts the antibiotics are a factor, but at the same time, they’re a necessary. What antibiotic is being used?
I may be off the air over the weekend, but I’ll check as often as I can. Most likely late evenings, my time (Sydney Australia).

Another message from Patrice:
Yes it could be pancreatitis. Ask the vet to do the cPL Canine pancreatic specific
lipase test.
It could also be EPI, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
This is all covered on the dogaware page I linked to. You can read this page and match up the symptoms with the conditions.
But it makes sense, the dog gets hungry and wants to eat but when he does it hurts badly and he isn’t getting the nutrition into the body. Small easy to digest meals to rest the pancreas, just enough calories to get to the next meal. Rice congee, try the liquid only at first, recipe is on Mary’s site. I am not sure if fasting would help but that is usually recommended during the acute stage of pancreatitis. The cPL test would tell you if it is pancreatitis.
