Mary – Molly was so very beautiful & Mable is a real cute girl too. Thank you for sharing their lovely photos.
Linda – Sadie is just the best girl! PCV 48 again – YEAH. I think it’s a fantastic idea to speak to Blue Pearl & I am crossing everything for the cat to make a great recovery. Anyone who needs help will always be welcome here. We all know what a terrible place the world can seem when dealing with IMHA/AIHA.
Love to all from all of us.
Thanks all for your lovely comments. I am glad Willie was interested to see them! I have lots of pictures, although always wish I had more! “Memories” is a lovely song. I’m sorry I’ve not been around more this week, I have been very busy, but I’m so pleased to be here as it gives me a positive focus for what has happened. Thank you all for being so welcoming.
It was almost impossible to find reliable information about AIHA in cats, and the specialists actively discouraged me from reading about it. I found this very difficult, as my natural instinct in these situations is to find out as much as possible. Even before Molly’s official diagnosis, I had come to the conclusion she had PRCA (pretty close!) from her lab results and the reading I had done. I wish specialists would understand that everyone deals with things differently. I have a chronic health condition (which is now well managed) but the thing which made it easier for me was to learn and understand all I could about it, as well as getting in touch with other sufferers, who were basically experts in the field through their own experience. That is why I have such faith in this site.
I’m hoping to get Molly’s story finished and up this weekend. It’s lovely and sunny here. I hope you and the pooches are all well, lots of lovely pink gums please!

Hi all, and thanks for your replies. So what will the name be? Crazy paranoid animal women? I like it! Mable is getting good at having her gums checked. I am learning a lot about her behaviour, and last night was particularly of note. She comes up to bed with me and pounces around attacking my feet, until I switch off the light and she gets off the bed. Last night I was a little upset after writing about Molly. Mable went downstairs, howled a little, and then came right up and sat with me. I’m sure she knew something was up. I have learnt a lot about animal grief since this happened.
Unfortunately, Mable has still not had her prawn! My culinary adventures have been limited recently, but she is very happy with her treats and enjoys the odd dental biscuit!
Here’s Molly looking rather relaxed on my bed one evening. She was the boss!
And here’s one of both the girls:
I hope you and your doggies are all doing well today

Hi Mary
You must have found it heartbreaking writing about dear Molly – I think you are amazingly brave. Vally is right – welcome to the crazy, paranoid world of IMHA & there is no escape for any of us. If Ollie is a bit off colour, he gets his gums checked too. Completely mad, but that’s just what we do now!
Love Sheena & the boys
PS Has Mable had that prawn I promised her yet?????
Thank you Linda for your lovely words.
I think I’m almost finished with Molly’s story. It’s made me cry no end writing it out but it’s also quite cathartic. She was my little cat. Her sister Mable is fortunately still with me and is doing well, although it took her some time to settle. I’m quite obsessed with checking the colour of her gums! Although I am sure everyone here will understand that. It is a cruel, awful disease but I just hope that by increasing knowledge and raising awareness, more dogs and cats will be able to overcome it.
Thanks again, Mary and Mable x
Hi Linda
Thank you so much for your warm welcome and kind words. I am very much learning the ropes and am working on Molly’s story but I feel really excited about having the opportunity to reach out to people and hopefully support them through such a difficult time.
Mary (and Mable x)
Linda – no thanks needed, but kind of you to say. We were all the same when our dogs were diagnosed. I was pretty clueless myself at the beginning & the feeling of helplessness is unbearable. Nice to see your vet is doing rescue work – he must be a lovely guy. You know Sadie is very close to my heart I would have done anything to help you. It gives me so much pleasure helping others to beat this disease – I am only repaying the kindness I received when I joined this lovely group of people.
Lots of love from me & the boys
Hi Linda
Many vets do not give anti-clotting meds as they don’t seem to know about the risks. I’m sure it wasn’t until I looked at Sadie’s blood tests & sent you some information to take to the vets about it that they added it in. At least your vet took it on board, unlike some of the others! This is all too common & it worries me – we need to get across to any new people on here how important it is.
That spraying around you is horrible, Linda. I’m glad they won’t be doing it again – it sounds very toxic.
