Zymox for ear infections

[Jen]

Hi everyone. Has anyone used zymox on their dogs or cats to treat ear infections? It lists 3 ingredients: lysozyme, lactoferrin, and lactoperoxidase. You can also get it with hydrocortisone 1%. I’m curious if these ingredients are safe for dog with aiea. Poor Maggie has dealt with chronic ear infections her entire life & vet mentioned she likely will lose her hearing. Another alternative is surgery removing ear canal but with her condition I’m nervous to do any type of surgery.
Thanks for any and all advice or knowledge!
Hope everyone and their babies are doing well!

Jen,
Chance had terrible allergies. His ears were just one problem out of many. It was a heartache for me because they bothered him so much.

My vet gave us a prescription for Zymox (this was 2000!) and it worked. Not only did it work, he never had problems after that because we could use it for a day or two and that would clear any small problems up.

The best part about Zymox is that it isn’t a “medication” but rather natural enzymes. It contains no antibiotics. It comes either with or without cortizone. I never used the cortizone. It’s as safe, effective and I wouldn’t hesitate to use it.
