- Split: Nula (5yr old English Cocker Spaniel)
That’s the best news! So very pleased to hear your little lady is home! You must be thrilled to bits. Sorry she was sick, but bearing in mind all she’s been through it’s no wonder. As you say, keep her as quiet as you can. What’s the next step? I assume they will want to see her back for a check up fairly soon?
Anyway, wonderful news! Thank you for letting us know and give her huge cuddles from me!
Mary & Mable x

Having never been a little thief in the past (almost) 6yrs, Nula has her first conviction! Opened the ‘dog’ cupboard to give her her tea, and suddenly she’s pinched a biscuit while I wasn’t looking! She’s finished her tea in record time and is now eyeing up my Marmite toast! They weren’t kidding when they said the steroids would make her hungry!! Xxxx
Hi Ruth
So good to hear the news that Nula is home! She’s a hungry baby indeed. I love to see them being naughty after they’ve been ill, don’t you? It makes you feel much happier when they are eating well. I can remember Worzel being hand fed tiny bits of mince & we were overjoyed when he ate a just little bit, getting thinner & thinner – then – wow – what an appetite! I’m so happy for you, Ruth – have a lovely weekend with your best girl

Hi Ruth. I am so glad to hear Nula is back home. If she throws up again, maybe give her Cerinia? I would ask your vet. It works with Sadie when she’s having a rough day, tummy wise. But like you and everyone else said, it’s most likely all the whirl-wind activity.
I hope you have a wonderful evening with your beautiful girl. Please keep us posted.
Hurray hugs and lots of love,
Linda and Sadie
So glad that little sweetie is home! So good to hear!Yes med chart will save your life. If you have more than one person in the house it may be a good idea to have a designated highlighter color for that person. My partner and I both would feed and do meds and we were diligent about marking off with our color highlighter when we gave Indigo her meds. I always left a box to write notes too just in case there was anything going on that day. So I would be able to inform my vet. I also put cameras in the bedroom Indigo stayed during the day, since I had to work. I had one camera on her and one on her food bowl so I could log on with my phone and if she didn’t eat I could run home and syringe her on my lunch break. I was a crazy momma that is for sure! LOL :)
Hi Ruth,
I am so glad that Nula is now home. That is always the best medicine! I hope your weekend if full of cuddling and relaxation (and of course lots of biscuits.!)
You will notice I have split this topic as it was getting very long. Everything remains from the beginning but this has Split in front of the title!

Ruth, Yes home is the best place for her now for lots of spoiling. Just want to check about her meds. Is she on stomach protection. You didn’t mention it in the email for the medicine chart. Bingo ended up with stomach ulcers from the prednisone. It’s very important.
With timing of doses, as Bingo never needed aspirin, I’m not sure whether aspirin can be given with other meds or food? I’ve charted it up but I’ve kept the aspirin separate. If there’s no need to keep it away from food or drugs, it makes things that much easier. What I charted was:
7am prednisolone (with food)
8am aspirin
6pm aspirin
7pm pred (with food)
9pm atopica
Can anyone spot a problem with the dosing?
By the way Atopica ideally should be given at least 1 hour before food or at least 2 hours after food. If Nula has trouble stomaching the Atopica though, I believe it can be given with a small amount of food, and I’ve also read that freezing the Atopica 1/2 hour before dosing helps if they have trouble stomaching it.
Enjoy yourselves. Nula, I think there’s another biscuit with your name on it!!!
