Checkup today.

PCV 29.8% – up from 21%, and I had only expected 25. Happy happy!

Platelets – 599 (ugh… she’s never had platelets this high)

However. Her whites went up to 33. they were low 20s 5 days ago.

She also lost 3lbs in 5 days despite the amount she’s eating. I feel like I CANT feed her more because her bloat is so bad. It was bad enough the the dr was tripping out over it a little and did an ultrasound (at no cost to me), to see if it was fluid. But no.

We tested her for a UTI – no. There are no outward signs of infection. We aren’t sure where to go other than wait and see. I’m trying to be happy about the 29.8% but I’m very freaked out over the whites.

He gave me Amoxicillian. I already gave her a dose before I thought to check with everyone. Is this a dangerous antibiotic for her?

I’m trying not to absolutely panic but I’ve found something on Sassy that made my blood run cold. I actually vomited…totally out of my mind. cancer, cancer, cancer is all that is racing through my head.

Whatever this is it wasn’t there until very very recently. It is soft, totally black and shiny, like a blackberry. I think it may be bothering her just a tiny bit, or not at all.

I’ve been looking up photos of cancer/tumors and I have to say I’m not really finding much that looks like this. I’m starting to lean towards a blood blister? Well, I’m PRAYING it’s that. Has anyone saw anything like this before? Could this be why her white count is rising? Could it be from giving amoxicillin?

pee, poop is normal – raging appetite – good spirits, sassy has been doing well. i only noticed this a few hours ago when she was laid out on the kitchen flood waiting for food and i went to pet her belly. it’s on her side/belly area. would a cancer/tumor has sprung up this fast? I am sure this wasn’t there a few days ago.

Unless it changes drastically I am planning on waiting until 9:30am Friday to go in – that’s our appointment. Unless absolutely necessary I don’t want to put her through the trip up there, it really exhaust her.

Looks like a wart/ papilloma – just ask your vet on Friday to make sure it’s nothing serious.

Stop panicking. Sorry I missed your post earlier. Bingo has HEAPS of these and yes, I’m pretty sure it’s a papilloma wart, but of course, ask the vet to have a look at it.

Specialist told me the cyclosporine can bring cause these too or bring them out, I can’t remember.

Now something amazing lately perhaps. Who knows. As I send Bingo has heaps of these but one HUGE one on his back around his shoulders, so he can’t bother it thank goodness. It was about 2 cm high and round. Seriously huge and it’s been there for about 2 years, slowly getting larger. Specialist and vet said leave it alone. It can be removed for cosmetic reasons or if it’s causing problems, but I probably wouldn’t recognise him without all the bumps.

Lately though, in my never-ending quests to quest, I read that using spring water for their drinking water can get rid of these – sounds easy – the reason being the fluoride in the water (we do have fluoride in the water here). So, of course, I switched Bingo to bottled spring water (for the last 3 months or so) whilst yours truly continues to drink dirty tap water. The huge wart is coming apart as we speak. I noticed it bleeding big time about 2 weeks ago and showed the vet. She just cleaned it up and said to just leave it alone and let it dry out, which it did. Same thing happened again, another chunk of it came off about a week ago, more blood and it dried up again. It’s down to about a quarter the size it was and it’s dropping tiny scabs all the time now, so I THINK it is going away.

Now whether the spring water is doing it, or just tastier, who knows. He’s also been off cyclosporine for at least a year now, maybe it was that all along, but I’ll keep him on his precious spring water…..

Oh, Vally. I live in Hot springs Arkansas. It’s called that because we have tons of hot springs here. Downtown, there are bathhouses directly linked to the water and they also have faucets where you can bring jugs and gather the water for free. I was just talking today about going to get some for a sassy.

It’s bursting with minerals we know, and has always been called healing. American Indians used this place as a no-fighting recovery area. They weren’t allowed to fight here even from enemy tribes. They all came to gather and drink/bath in the water.

I know when I personally use it which hasn’t been in years, I’ll like wash my hair. it’s SO soft after.

When I first saw one on Bingo, I thought it was a tick and I freaked. There are ticks down the east coast of Australia as far as Sydney, but they are usually in bushland, so not within my immediate area. Then again, a dog up the street had one, who went nowhere other than his home and the park where Bingo goes.

Our ticks are paralysis ticks and when they feed on blood they inject a neurotoxin. As the poison is absorbed it quickly starts to cause paralysis, as well as affecting the major organs. Untreated dogs usually die within 24 to 48 hours of the onset of obvious clinical signs.

So I was freaked. I photographed it and enlarged it, but I wasn’t sure, so I went and bought a magnifying glass and had a good look and saw that it was a wart.

It didn’t grow over the day, so I was fairly sure it wasn’t a tick, but I showed it to the vet anyway. That’s when I found out about the warts. He also told me that he had treated a dog whose owner had plucked out all this dog’s nipples, as he thought they were ticks. OUCH!!! That poor dog!!!!!
