- Rocky — IMHA, day 16
He is there now. It was new this morning. And the vet looked at it, and said that it was very small, and she wasn’t too concerned about it. She did an u/s of his belly to double check for any bleeding, but it was negative. He had a CBC pulled again today and a PCV.
HIS PCV WAS 35!!!!!!!! Just talked to the vet again.
They were so pleased that he has responded well to the cyclosporine. We are still waiting on the full results of the CBC for reticulocytes, bilirubin, etc, etc….. All these numbers, I don’t know how to keep them all straight.
His bruising was nothing like that. It was one single spot about the size of a penny.
This could be a small spot of staph infection then. Is it oozing a amber colored liquid?
take a picture and upload it.
Please keep an eye on this all day. Let’s not let this get away from us.
my best patrice
We are currently at the vet’s office. It wasn’t the color of a penny, just the size.
I drew a circle around it to see if it gets bigger or smaller. There is no oozing or open skin there at all.
I will take a picture (but still can’t figure out how to upload) :/
Lauren,
Because we don’t register folks to post (and keep details about you), and that means anyone can post, I have to be careful with photos. You upload them, I get a message that there is a new photo and then I go in and approve it! Sorry that we are not like facebook, but I do this to protect the privacy of everyone that posts here!
Rocky’s photo is up! He has a beautiful smile, what a happy doggie!
my best, patrice
Hi Lauren
Rocky is SOOOOOO handsome & his name is perfect for his good-looking physique! Patrice is right about that lovely smile – gorgeous boy. I like the rise in PCV to 35 – good stuff Rocky – & really cheerful news about the nasal discharge stopping too. What we are all just a little bit concerned about is the penny sized bruising (a photo would be great) – please could you tell us what platelet level Rocky has from his latest test as soon as possible? The full CBC figures would be very useful too, as some of us can interpret blood test results for you – this is important for us to be able to see what’s happening as an overall picture. You can use the urgent information facility if you want or put in here as a “photo”. I am relieved that your vet is not too concerned, but would feel happier if we had all the information you can give us.
Don’t worry – Patrice is brilliant at protecting our personal stuff on here – she is also fantastic at seeing problems that need to be addressed. It’s a real pain that I am in a different time zone – it’s time for bed for us now (France), but rest assured I will be looking for Rocky’s update & I hope he will continue to improve – you are doing one fantastic job at looking after your boy.

Oh Lauren, Congratulations on that fabulous PCV result.
I’m glad the bruising was checked with an ultra-sound. Your vet sounds really great. Alarms go off when you hear bruising and action needs to be taken quickly in case something is going on inside.
And yes, Rocky is absolutely gorgeous and there is no doubt he’s grinning at his results.
