- Need cheaper meds
My dog Chloe’ has been diagnosed with Evans Syndrome since July now and has a plethora of medication including: Prednisone, Azathioprine, Cyclosporine, Denamarin, and Prilosec. I’m looking for cheaper options than the vet. Pet360 looks promising. Anyone have any suggestions? TIA
Hi Angie,
I’ve had some luck in getting Dean’s Cyclosporin through Costco. You can get prescriptions from Costco without a membership which is cheaper than the vet, plus we save about $10 on each refill with the membership. I’m not sure about Sam’s Club or other wholesale stores. Also, we began incorporating traditional Chinese veterinary medicine into Dean’s care which so far has worked to stabilize him after a recent relapse without needing another blood transfusion (Dean has IMHA). Do not consider adding Chinese herbs or any supplements without consulting your vet first! Ideally, you would want your vet to work openly with the specialist which we were lucky to find. Dean is on Yunnan Baiyao Jiaonang (we found this online), Qing Ying Tang, and Dang Gui Shao Yao San (these last two we get from the vet at a very affordable price). I realize this form of treatment is controversial but I have seen some very positive results in the last 6 weeks since his relapse. I am also curious what the moderators of this website might have to add.
Sincerely,
Amber and Dean
Hi, I too order cyclosporine from costco. My Maggie was on aza as well & I found target to be cheaper than the vets or CVS. You may want to look at Walmart as well, they offer some pet meds.
Best of luck!
Jen
Thank you both for replying. I think my best option is the Walgreens prescription plan. Sams had some great prices but overall I think Walgreens will be our best option. Huge savings compared to the Vet prices and I’m disappointed my vet did not suggest this as my bills are skyrocketing and I know most people could not afford to continue care for their dog at this rate. Good luck to you all and I pray your dogs continue to recover!!!
Best Wishes and God Bless!
Angie
