Male Dog Diaper

Has anyone tried a dog diaper for a male that you can recommend? Thinking of trying it for night time or if I have to be away a bit longer than usual from Diablo during the day. Thanks!

Hi Tara, no I haven’t, luckily. It is usually not recommended to regulate the water intake of our dogs in this situation,they should drink LOTS. But the i don’t think there is anything wrong if you do it wisely. Restrict the water intake a bit towards the evening. If you try diapers, just as with kids I would be careful not to have a soiled diaper on too long. Or you might have to deal with infections.

I see that Amazon has Simple Solution Belly Bands, washable, for about $10. They come in different sizes. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this for short periods of time and rotate a clean one while you wash the dirty one.

I understand how important it is to not have accidents in the house. Your dog doesn’t like it and you have to clean it up. Both of you end up feeling cranky.

Hi Tara, I would be tempted to try the dog training pads and put them down in areas where he is sniffing, I used them successfully with older dogs, the dollar store has them at a good price.

Thanks everyone. I did purchase a belly band but decided to try crating diablo at night to see if he would hold it as opposed to having to go out and I put the belly band on too. He has not been crated at night since he was  puppy and now he is 14. He slept the entire night and has for the whole week and does not ask to go out and just goes right away when we wake in the a.m. I am thinking he was getting up and drinking too much water in the middle of the night and can no longer hold it but with no access to water at night he is o.k. Not sure but it is working……

what ever it was, you found a solution! I don’t think it would have been a UTI they don’t just take care of themselves. I did not realize Diablo is 14! I sure cross my fingers that you will be able to post positive reports.
