How Bingo nearly burned down the house

Yes totally his fault. I accept no blame whatsoever.

Yesterday was an exhausting day. My day off work. Dentist in the morning (filling and another to go next week – oh yippee). From there grocery shopping, then lunch. After that decided to put up the Christmas Crib (I have a large crib in the front window with running water) and the house lights. The Christmas Crib and lights causes a lot of non-Christmas cheer in the house, with dad and I arguing the whole time. The running water is his specialty however, it gets harder and harder each year for him to do it. Water going EVERYWHERE of course is a yearly event. Of course the power isn’t switched on at this point, or we all go up in lights. The water works – it is decibels loud as it drops into a bucket under the crib – did I mention this is set up in my room and all the lights and water go until about 11pm.

Oh yes I digress – Bingo.

After the crib and lights are set up, it’s Bingo’s dinner time, but I haven’t taken him out for a walk yet. I suggest a walk and he’s keen to go. About 3 minutes into the walk he’s heading home – of course it’s dinner time and he’s realised and is obviously hungry. Forget the walk. We go home and he stuffs his face.

I’m still cleaning up the mess that is everywhere with empty boxes and just stuff everywhere. I’ve also run out of Bingo’s pumpkin to bulk up his meals (he thinks it’s chicken so shhhh). So I put some pumpkin on in a steamer on the stove. Okay everyone, “oh oh”.

Bingo now decides he didn’t get a fair walk before and wants to go out again. He starts barking and carrying on. Yes I go out and take Bingo for his walk. He has a great time, he runs into a couple of friends and has a chat, makes sure he hasn’t missed any cat specialty leftovers and does full sniff duty of the park. He decides when we’ve had enough of a walk and takes off for home, whilst I’m still chatting with the other dogs’ owner. I call him now, but he’s had enough. There’s only 1 road to cross, but he has no road sense – so I’m now running after him.

Walk in the door and the STENCH. I take the pot off the stove and poor the contents into the sink – the bottom of the saucepan has turned fluro blues and purples. Quite lovely really. Dad was sitting out the front admiring his handywork with the lights and crib and totally oblivious.

I carefully carry the saucepan outside to let it cool down to a much safer million degrees before tossing the pot in the bin.

Bingo says he deserves a biscuit after his walk.

So that’s how Bingo almost burned down the house.
