- Help Cookie has tremors
I think (not really sure) that Cookie may have vomited up her pred last night and this moring. When I went home for lunch today she had developed bad tremors. Her paws are literally shaking uncontrollably.
An update on Cookie and what occurred beginning Monday around noon. Ok so my husband found a pile of vomit Monday before I came home for lunch and we both felt strongly that Cookie was in an Addison crisis. Vomitting, no appetite, diahrea and bad tremors – in that order. The vet wasn’t in the clinic to answer questions and still not returning calls. So Cookie is still very alert in spite of situation so after looking up everthing I could regarding the Addison crisis we gave her a regular dose of her prednisone. Praying for good results but had to return to work left her in hubby’s care.
When I got home at 5ish she seemed as normal as she is lately. Was happy to be outside, peed, came in drank a lot of water and laid down. I watched her closely for over an hour checking her pulse that stayed around 85-90 bpm. Her mouth, ear and eyes showing more pink. Her breathing calmed some when she was completely relaxed but still quick at times. She was not in any distress and no more tremors. I gave her a small amount of chicken and rice and she ate a small amount of dog food kibble.
Tuesday – She did okay through the night, I think she rested pretty good (except for having to go pee), still no tremors and no vomiting. Only gave her that last dose of prednisone yesterday afternoon and nothing else until this morning. Trying to let her body mend and rest. Started the cyclosporine at 4am with a litte food, famotidine at 5:50, then the prednisone at 6:10 with food, which she kept down.
She’s doing very good so far. It was a chain reaction w the vomiting I think, too much food and feeling woozy from all the medicine. She kept down her am med and so far the pm too. Her color is good and she has a little trot in her w the tail flagging. We have to keep her slow because that doesn’t last long and might start the vomiting again.
Thank you Val & Patrice and everyone who posts on this site the information is invaluable.
Best to all,
Edwina & Cookie (with smiles)
