Hi Carrie–Daisy sounds like a fun, outgoing girl. So glad you chose to rescue/adopt. I envy a hound that takes medication without hesitation. My Charlie (a hound doggie mix) initially gave me a hard time, especially when he was having tummy issues. I tried to hide pills in his food and a variety of treats. When he refused eating, I then tried a pill shooter with some success. But now that Charlie’s appetite is back, he will swallow them hidden in any treat!
We wish you and Daisy well on her road to recovery. It seems like she is off to a good start. Keep us posted on her progress. Vally and Patrice are invaluable resources, as are the other great people on this forum who have been through the ups and downs of the disease. We have learned so much from them.

Hi Carrie and Daisy .. So sorry to hear that Daisy has AIHA ..
I like many of the other gals here at Second Chances have a dog “Flossie” with it as well. So we understand the ups and downs all to well.
It looks like once again Vally and Patrice have provided the best advice ..
I see you have reduced med .. and so far so good. Glad to hear it as we all who have been through this that’s one of the most important things to deal with because reducing to quickly can without a doubt cause relapse to onset and that’s one thing we all want to avoid for our four legged friends.
Take Care and keep us updated on how you and Daisy are doing ..

Hey Everyone, I am so excited!!! Daisy is making great progress. She went back for her weekly blood work today and her PVC went from 22 to 31.5 over the last 7 days. Although we are delighted with the progress, our vet is careful to gradually get less and less of meds. Daisy is only taking 30 mg of prednisone a day. We go back in another week. Daisy is also putting on weight- this is good for her as she came to us under weight. She has about 5 more lbs before she is at her ideal weight.
Thank you all for your support and comfort during this time. I am so grateful!
Carrie
Wow Go Daisy !!!!!
Carrie so happy for Daisy and you .. those blood test #’s are an emotional roller coaster. Everytime I take Flossie I wait for 24 hours for the call in anticipation that everything is still going right.
This month has been particulary nervous in that they are having her go a full month without a blood test since she’s been doing good . So we have 1 more week to go before her next test.
BTW Daisy is a beauty and love her name .. I had a yellow lab growing up that was named Daisy and I just loved her so much …
Blessings

I am so sorry I am late to the show here. Daisy is beautiful and I am glad she is improving. The support on this board is amazing and will help you through this crazy time. I am sure everyone has been helping you through the medical parts of this which I am not the best at but I am certainly here to give emotional support. I hope you are both doing well. I will keep you in my prayers and please don’t hesitate to call on me if you need an ear.
Warmly,
Amy & The Girls ( Coal, Leia & Vidia)
