Hi Mary, yes he takes thyroxine. Way back, his local vets believed that was his problem. It took forever to get blood tests back as one general blood test simply showed he was anaemic, second blood test went missing and third showed he was hypothyroid. He was put on 100mcg twice a day, but then ended up very sick and went to specialist hospital where he was diagnosed with AIHA (and polyarthritis). At that point they did further blood tests and put him on an extra 100mcg in the morning, so 2 am and 1 pm, but as he rapidly lost so much weight in the early days with pred, they cut his thyroxine back down to just the 2 a day again.
He’s been good since the other night. Still a little quiet at times and sleeps very heavily at night with some muscle twitching. Meal times, loud as usual.
I’ve managed to get next Tuesday off, so I’ve changed the appointment to Tuesday.

Day 1. All good on the home front. He’s been very good tonight. He probably knew if he tried anything on tonight I was ready to lose it.
He wanted to play with his ball, and his blanket and he thought he should get some scratches too. I was trying to make sure he didn’t toss his blanket around too much, in case it made him dizzy. He said get over it – he’ll toss his blanket where he wants, when he wants.
No Sheena, he doesn’t deserve any ear muffs or anything else. Despite that, I made his favourite tonight of poached chicken. Because he could smell it cooking, he carried on like he was being drawn and quartered being made to wait to eat.
I’m thinking I’m going to get his thyroid checked again. That hasn’t been checked in a while.
Love Vally & steady.
Wow, Tamara, it’s unbelievable isn’t it when you right it down. Bingo wasn’t on a lot of these, so can someone else check them.
You’ve kept the different ones that I know that are okay with food or can’t be with food or apart from others or blagh blagh blagh, right.

Yes, don’t feel bad. I’ve done it with other stuff. As Mary said, we become so desperate to make them better that we throw everything at them with the very very best of intentions.
I second Linda’s Pet Tinic advice. Also you probably know but I’ll mention Cyclosporine 1 hour before or 2 hours after food – unless it makes Ashki sick. Also the soloxine and denamarin- at least an hour away from food. Sucralfate acts as a bandaid for the stomach but also stops absorption of medications so dose away from all meds.
Everything crossed for Tuesday.

Linda, what awesome news. Sadie girl you clever thing! Mum thinks she’s done all the hard work, but we all know it was really you :)
I love a romance and Chubby Ollie & Miss Voluptuous has a real ring to it. Yes let’s see those glasses. She’s such a star, she’ll need them so as to avoid being hassled for autographs.
The reduction is is less than 20%, so it’s a good safe reduction and with lots of time, so you won’t have to worry while you’re away. You know she’ll have a good time with Buster.
Lots of love Vally & Bingo.
