- Tapering off prednisone
Hi Laurie. Your Audrey sounds like she is doing well. And you and vet seem to be doing all the right things.
Yes, it is scarey reducing the needed immune suppressants. I too, am just starting this with my cocker spaniel, Sadie. She is a unique case, this is relapse three, so I am really paranoid. But this is not the usual – she was originally weaned too abruptly after onset and she’s had quite a time staying put with her PCV. Please, listen to those here that know the ins and outs of this stinking disease. Their wisdom is gold.
I am impressed with your vet taking time with Aubrey’s prednisone reductions. This is so important. You have been given some great advice already from Brigitte, Vally and Sheena. Keep up the great job you’re doing. Aubrey is a lucky girl to have your love and allegiance. I look forward to seeing her picture.
Sending our love,
Linda and Sadie
Hi Linda – Goodness I can’t imagine going through this again let along 3 times – I’m sorry :( How did they wean her off the first time?
It was a crazy drop every five day thing. It’s in her story under ‘Our Stories’ – Sadie. Everyone here tried to tell me but I was the infamous deer in the headlights and although I loved her vet, he was totally wrong about this – the forum was right.
Yes, it has been pretty crazy. But she is an amazing little girl and somehow has always bounced back. This time was tough, but she’ll get through this too. 😘
This forum is incredible. Stay with us – no question is silly or stupid. This is such a learning curve. But YOU are doing an awesome job already. Way to go you two!!!
Love and hugs, Linda and Sadie
