This is great to hear. 38 is a good PCV – she is doing very well. I know I’m an old nag, but please double check on the clotting, just in case & to keep me happy. I want to make sure all is well. Give them a quick phone call – blame me for nagging you by all means! You know we’ll gladly look at the results.

I’m so pleased to read how well Emily is doing! Wonderful! Did you hear back from the vet at all? I agree with you about not bathing her until she’s recovered further. It’s ok to be a bit stinky for a while!

Hi Mary,

Yes I did hear back from them. They said they don’t want to add anything new in at this point.

If she’s in the 40s tomorrow I think she may get a quick bath this weekend because it’s supposed to get up into the 80s.
I will post her number tomorrow if I get a chance to catch my breath. My grandchildren have been here and kept me sooooo busy!

Just a suggestion for a bath that might be less stressful – I did this with my older dog when she was really old & couldnt make it in the tub anymore. Only do it in warm temps and 80 sounds good! Just fill a bucket with warm water and use a cup outside. Dump enough to wet, lather soup, then slowly pour the water on her to rinse it off. Somehow, at least for my dogs, its a lot less stressful than the dreaded bathroom of evil. Might not be as thorough but it’s a good in-between deep cleaning :)

I’m at the vets now and Emily’s at 42. She’s being reduced to one dose of Prednisone a day!!!

Susie, that’s wonderful news. Was Emily still on 7.5mg twice a day? Cutting down to 7.5mg once a day?

We’re all a bit paranoid on this site. Having relapsed twice when doing 50% reductions, if it’s at all possible, it’s safer to do reductions at no more than 25%-33% at a time. If there’s no real urgency, really truly it’s safer to slow down the reduction. Could you do maybe 7.5mg morning and 2.5mg at night for a few weeks, then drop the night dosage.
