Oh Carol, I am so so sorry for your loss, by the sounds of things you found Eddy when he needed you the most, and you loved and cared for him and gave him the best possible life he could have asked for, not all dogs are as lucky. You will feel like he has taken a piece of your heart, but he gave you a piece of his to look after and cherish.
He will be waiting for you, and you will see each other again, and when you need a bit of support he will find a way to let you know he’s still about.
You had to make THE most difficult decision, but you did the right thing, you knew you couldn’t put him through the fight against cancer, he clearly tried his upmost to beat AIHA, and as you say you had the extra time with him.
Take the time you need to grieve, but please remember him in the good times, what a little beaut he was.
