- YOUR Stories and Pictures
I need help from everyone for a great idea I have.
I have been reading your stories and looking at your pictures and I realized that this is what frantic owners need when their dogs are sick. They need to see the people who are helping them and read their stories. They need to see the dogs that have survived. They also need to see the dogs that have not survived but whose owners are still contributing their knowledge to help others.
As much as is practicable, I would like to gather photo portraits of you, your dogs, your family and even the vet who you worked with to use as material for the website.
I know everyone posts everything on facebook all the time now, but I would like to be more cautious and respectful of you and your vet’s privacy.
If your vet is agreeable to being photographed they can put whatever restrictions they want on the use of this photo. My only use would be to highlight the owner and dog with the person who saved their life. I do not need to identify them by name if they don’t want that. They can be Dr. Sue or Dr. Tom and it will still be meaningful. If they are willing to allow us to post their name, ask if they will agree to let us post the name of their clinic as well.
Ideally these photos should be as high quality as possible and there should be plenty of area around the people for editing purposes. So in other words the photos should not be taken too close up. They don’t necessarily need to be taken inside the clinic. If it is nice out, sure go outside to take them.
I am going to ask Vally to help you learn how to use your phone or camera to get these high quality wide angle photos. She has access to many photographers who can help her write some guidelines about how to get these nice photos.
Don’t be afraid to go to the beach or park to get some nice photos. If you have doggie friends, invite them over for a group photo. Do your grandparents love your Second Chance dog? Then I want to see that photo. I also want to see you in these photos.
If your dog has passed, ask the vet who helped you if they would be willing to have a picture taken with you. I think this will heal everyone’s heart….
Be creative and have fun!
If these files are really huge, over 10mg, there is a good chance that my Bluehost server will refuse to upload them. Let me know by posting here that you had trouble and I will arrange something.
my best, patrice
Great idea Patrice!! Now I just need to become an amateur photographer (help Vally!!!), meaning better than my iPhone……. ;)
Love and hugs, Linda and Sadie
Seriously folks email me if you have any issues with a photo. I’d love to help. I’m certainly can’t solve all photographic problems, but I’m happy to help try and I’ve been playing with cameras for years.
Now if I can jut work out how to get the rotten flash to work on my phone camera. Come on! it’s automatic!!!
Patrice – that is a fantastic idea. It’s always good to know the people behind the words! Hope our cheap camera can live up to the expectations.

Would you like us to email our photos to you, Patrice, or upload them to this site with a caption?
My vet is camera shy (too bad because he’s so cute!) but his pic is on the clinic’s website so I think it’s ok to use that one.
Erica,
Good question! You can just upload them. I get an email that tells me “there is an uploaded image that needs to be approved.” It doesn’t tell me who uploaded it or what it is. So it helps to save the photo with a very descriptive file name like: chancepatricewoods2008.jpg. If anyone doesn’t know how to do this, they can email me and I will help. polockhart@sprintmail.com
I can understand your vet is reluctant to have his picture taken because he has no idea -where- it will end up. But here is a suggestion. Ask him if he would agree to a photo taken in an exam room with you holding your dog on an exam table and your vet’s back to the camera with his hands on your dog. We wouldn’t be able to see his face but we would certainly know that he is caring for your dog!
Have him approve of that photo before we use it. It will be only used on this website to help show how caring your vet has been and it will not be used to advertise any product or sell anything. Perhaps you want to wait until he can actually see the new website so he will worry less?
I am reluctant to lift images off of websites. Most sites are protected by copyrights. I am going to have to be very careful.
