- RCV Question
How long should you wait for a RCV draw after a dose reduction? We lowered Coals dose to 20mg on Wed. and I am a hot mess and checking her gums and eyes like a psycho. The Vet said she will check her on Monday thats 5 days. Is this too long or is it an ok amount of time?
5-7 days is fine – if you see anything to make you unhappy – extreme lethargy, pale gums, no appetite, anything worrying out of the ordinary, straight to the vets. It’s very hard at the beginning not to get stressed out, but better safe than sorry – if in doubt, a PCV put my mind at rest -sometimes, I did get a check up before the scheduled one. Crossing everything available for you & Coal & sending best wishes of course.

Ha the gums! They are BLACK! She is black. I can’t see much there :( I use mostly the lower eye lids but I do check her gums even though I can’t see much. Thanks. I will try to relax a little. You are all very good as assuaging fears.
Aha!!!! Tricky then. I used to look in the corner of Worzel’s eyes at the pink tissue – it’s a good indicator there – as that an option for you? I assume she’s completely back everywhere – no pink tummy bits?
Hi Amy , glad to hear Coal is doing so well, my dog Snoopy, he is due to go to the vets this next Thursday, for blood level check, depending on results , we will be reduceing Snoopys predonisilone, im sure I will be the same as you with constant checking of gums and eyelids and keeping watch for any other signs ,you are doing a great job, sending much love to you and Coal, Jill & Snoopy xxxxx
Jill I hope al goes well with Snoopy’s RCV check. I am starting to realize that reducing the steroids is daunting. Prayers for you both! Thank you for the love!
Warmly,
Amy
