- Steve Update and Many Hugs!
Hey all!
I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA — this school thing really takes a lot of my time lol! Idk It seems normal functioning goes by the wayside when I’m in school..well my personal functioning anyway. Steve is rocking and rolling and doing wonderfully, thank God! He last went in for a PCV check on February 3 and his PCV was 54%!! He is now only on thyroid medication BID.

I’m also experimenting with supplements — huge fan of them and as you all can definitely understand, I’m always searching high and low for things to keep him healthy (read: IMHA relapse far far away). I started using coconut oil at a few peoples’ suggestion and our wonderful Tamara is helping me out to consider some others. Steve’s not set to go back to the specialist for a checkup for THREE months, which I’m not so fond of. We might have to stick to this once a month thing.
I just wanted to check in with everyone — I jump on the site a few times a week and think of all of you everyday but haven’t had a chance to post in a bit. With Valentine’s Day just passing tho I just wanted to drop a line to say that I love and appreciate each and every one of you for helping keep me sane through the last year!! Steve and I truly wouldn’t have made it thru without y’all. I will check back in soon, promises! Trying my hand at this multi-tasking thing lol! Hugs and love to everyone!

Hi Hope & the Stinky Boys
It’s SOOOOOOO good to hear from you & to read Steve is doing well too – I’m really happy for you – 54 is fantastic. We quite understand how busy you are – don’t worry about that.
I don’t blame you on the 3 month check-up. I went to the local vets & got a CBC done every month to put my mind at rest!
Sending you, Steve & Jeffrey the biggest hugs possible
Love Sheena & the other stinky boys! xxxxx
Hi Hope,
oh my goodness, how wonderful! Would you ever have thought that this could happen at the beginning of this ordeal? You did an exceptional job and Stinky Steve did his bit as well. I am ecstatic to read these wonderful news and see Steve’s beautiful shiny coat! Thanks for letting us now!
Best wishes,
Brigitte and the poodle boys
Hello Sheena, Brigitte and Vally!
Thank yall for responding so quickly! To answer Brigitte, I genuinely did not know what was going to come out of Steve’s diagnosis and googling “IMHA dogs” certainly wasn’t optimistic. When I brougjt Steve in that sunday morning that his PCV was 15%, the emergency vet said “it’s either a perforation somewhere in his GI tract or its this disease called IMHA. Hope for the perforation.” I left and went home and tried to find information on IMHA and was absolutely devastated. I was praying they would find a perforation or ulcer somewhere as terrible as that is. This website and yalls support is the one that kept me going even after my sanity had (long since) escaped me. I didn’t imagine getting to where we are today with Steve going for 25 minute jogs and wanting to do more! Or him wrestling and losing pitifully to his brother! Or as someone mentioned his beautiful coat coming back! I watch him like a hawk for any semblance of him not feeling well but that’s just the new normal and I don’t take for granted how lucky and blessed we are.
Much love to all of you and your fur babies!!

So happy to hear how well Super Steve is doing and to see how beautiful he is looking! Please give that boy a big smooch from me, and that stinker Jeffery too.
Much love, tamara and Ashki xoxoxox
Oh Hope – wonderful to read this!!!! You were and are an awesome fur parent. We all know that loneliness of onset – the questions and utter loss in figuring it all out. But YOU did it and Steve looks the apitimy of health. Thanks for the update and picture!
Never worry about the absence – I don’t know how you do what you do anyway! Keep it up and check in when possible. You’ve got it, by golly!!!! :)
Much love and huge hugs,
Linda and sassy Sadie
