- She lost the battle
Honey lost the battle this afternoon.
She went into crisis, her platelet count crashed and she was bleeding from her mouth and eyes. We went straight to the hospital, and were able to be with her at the end.
Thank you all for your support. This has been the most terrible time, and we are utterly devastated to lose our beautiful golden girl
RIP Honey – wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge
Oh Lynda, I am so terribly sorry to read this sad news. You must be absolutely devastated. I know there is nothing which can be said to ease your pain at the moment, but please know you will always be welcome here to talk about Honey and if you are in need of moral support. This is a cruel disease and every one of us understands the heartache that goes with it. Honey was such a beautiful girl and you did everything you could for her. I am glad you were able to be with her at the end, and I am very sure she was.
Sincere condolences and all my love to you and Dora.

We will light candles tonight, for her and for Meg who died just at the point we received Honey’s diagnosis. Tomorrow morning we will take her to the crematorium where Meg went, and then we can bring her ashes back here to the farm.
Oh Lynda – I can barely type. I am so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful Honey. You did all you could and more. You loved her more than words can describe and she knew it. I am glad you were there with her. Rest in peace, sweet Honey. Rest in peace. Run free over the Rainbow’s Bridge.
Much love and consoling hugs,
Linda
Consuelo has put some lovely pics of Honey as we want to remember her, on Facebook. She posts as Mercedes Fuentes – there is a wonderful pic of Honey in full gallop in the snow.
Dear Lynda,
I am not one that easily cries, but this got me. I am speechless and in tears. I am glad you could be with Honey at the end. Of course I don’t know exactly how you feel, but I have a pretty good idea. You did everything in your power and still you could not keep her. I know that right now those awful last days are edged in your mind but I also know that eventually the great memories you have of her will take over and make you smile again.
After being rescued Honey had a wonderful life with you, she was loved and taken care of. I am sure she gave back to you in heaps of love.
Please stay with us, keep talking here, I know it will help to make those dark days go away. Your experience might help someone some day. You might need a break from all this right now, but please come back and let us know how you, Dora and your family are doing.
With sincere sympathy,
Brigitte
My dear Lynda
No-one could have done more than you did to try & save her. Thank goodness you were able to be with Honey – that means a lot. I can’t imagine how terrible you must be feeling, but know the pain of losing a beloved dog cuts deep. This has hit me right in the heart. Sorry. So sorry. Please come back to us whenever you can. To rescue any dog makes someone very special in my book – and you are one of those people.
Look after sweet Dora, Consuelo & yourself
My heartfelt sympathy to you all,
Sheena
