- In shock
I am in shock right now. I just lost my little girl to IMHA. She was only 3 1/2 years old. 2 blood transfusions, antibiotics, and steroids, hospitalizations. She was euthanized yesterday. She was suffering and so exhausted. I can’t believe she is gone. Past months, she has had barium study, ultrasound, medications, tests for everything, and nothing positive apart from 2 abnormal bloodworks out of four. My God, I am in complete and total shock.
Claire, I’m so very sorry. This is an absolutely miserable disease that hits so quickly and so hard. So many times, there are no real symptoms until one day they just seem sick and in fact, tests show they are very sick and it’s life and death.
She was too young and I know you’re heartbroken and yes, as it’s happened so quickly, in shock. I can only say that time does heal and the good times will push in front of these last days – one day. But it really does take time to grieve and heal.
There is a Bridge page on the site, written by one of the ladies. It’s beautifully written and I’d encourage you to read it, but probably not just yet, as you’ll be too raw. This is the link when you’re ready:

Give yourself time to grieve, cry as much as you want, seek help if you need it. These dogs are not just dogs, they are our children, our family and to lose one takes a part of your heart.
Please take good care of yourself, and write again if you feel like it, whenever you want.
Big hugs,
Vally
So sorry for your loss Claire. I know how you feel right now as I lost my boy to this last July after 3 days. This site has been so supportive and I hope you read the page on the link Valley has given when your feeling up to it.
Thinking of you. Anna
